Safari lounge

One of the features of our Airstream Safari trailer is the L-lounge that is surrounded by many windows, including overhead vista view widows that enhance viewing of the moon and stars at night.

The lounge has storage space underneath and looks like a couch in the retracted position.

Early on, we and our dogs found that we like to spread out and be comfortable, so we prefer to keep the lounge in the extended position.

Over time, we found that the lounge was drooping at one end because the wood support arms for the slide hardware were attached only with staples and they started to separate.

We replaced the staples with 2″ flat head, 10 gauge machine screws.

For additional support and stability, we added retractable legs with hinges, which can be held up with magnetic catches, allowing the lounge to be fully closed when needed.

We now have plenty of Safari space to relax and dream.*
